HAS FOOTBALL LOST TOUCH WITH REALITY

The age old argument is that a footballer’s career is short lived and that’s why they earn a lot more than the average man in the street. In years gone by that was a valid argument, but in the modern game is that really true any more!

According to the football finances website www.capology.com, the average salary of a Premier League player in the 2023/24 season will be £3,207,663  This equates to an average of £61,685 a week.

On our calculator below, enter your current salary, what % it will increase every year until you retire, your current age and when you want to retire. You will then see how many weeks it will take for the average Premier League player to earn as much as you will during that exact same period of time… which could be the whole of your working life!
